Verifying our content for medical accuracy and safety

Updated: Feb 9

Our content goes through the strictest of medical processes, so you can be sure everything we write has passed through expert hands, and been reviewed by at least 2 doctors, before it reaches you.

At Healthily, we talk a lot about our content being trustworthy and medically verified, and we’re certain you can rely on every word of our Health Library to be up-to-date and accurate. We’re proud to say that:

  • the Patient Information Forum (PIF) has credited us as a trusted information creator and given us the PIF TICK for our robust and professional production process

  • we always apply the principles and quality statements of The Information Standard to ensure that our process for producing information follows best practice

  • ePrivacy gave us the ePrivacyApp seal after “an extensive technical review” of all our products, including our Health Library

But none of these accolades would have been possible without the 6-step process that each piece of content follows day in, day out.

The 6-step process

Ideation – our expert writers, editors, and the Head of Content brainstorm new topic ideas after looking into the most advanced audience insights – we only create content if users need it and want it. Once this content list has been finalized, we run each idea past our in-house doctors for safety.

Writing – after the topics have been chosen, our experienced health writers research extensively for each piece, using only the most trusted sources from our reference guide. Then, they do what they’re experts at, write engaging, empathetic, and informational articles that can help people.

Referencing – each writer knows they need to provide a solid medical reference for every point they make, ideally 2 references per point. It means each piece we publish has used at least 20 medical references to back up the claims, scientific studies, and emerging evidence we include.

Editing – our skilled sub-editors and digital editors proofread each piece thoroughly when it comes to tone, grammar, and structure. They’re looking to make sure each piece is engaging, useful, and easy to understand for our readers.

Medical review – 2 in-house, experienced doctors review every piece, checking references meticulously to ensure the content is safe and not misleading.

How can our medically verified content help you?

Our content meets the highest medical standards, providing users with answers and handy tips, but it’s also incredibly empathetic, helping those with chronic or underlying health conditions to feel like they’re not alone.
